I went to bowling

It has been more than 10 years since I bowl. My bro-in-law took me to Shatin to join up with his friends for a night of bowling. I am just an average bowler with an average of 180 pts. Since I hv not bowl for a long time, I ask myself, do I want to look stupid or do I adjust myself to do the best I can with limited resources?

bowling

My wife always said, without the Green Destiny sword 青龍劍 (i don’t hv my finger-tip ball and my handguard) I can’t perform. This time I said to myself, without the proper equipment, I try my best to put up a decent game. I use a conventional house ball. First game was pathetic, did 110pts. Second game, I improve. I tell myself don’t force the ball to spin, just adapt to the ball and pick my arrow on the lane. I did 147 pts.

Third game, I adjusted my first release but my spare game was still shit because I was still working on the adjustment of my standing position and the arrow. But, luckily I managed to take couple strike in a row and bring my score to 156 pts. No bad for a guy who hv not bowl for 10 years.

It was a success story for me. I can adapt and focus on the arrow and change the way I release the ball. I was not tense whereas when I was young, I was so tense up because I don’t hv all my equipment in hand. In end, I did real bad. This time…I just enjoy the flow of the game. Probably a sign of getting old.

A success story for me. I can compete.

Selling furniture in Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, because of space and high rental cost, selling furniture need some creativity. In KL, we can see some these furniture store on the side of the highway with probably 10,000 square feet or more. But in Hong Kong, all these/most furniture store are located in the office building. I think most Hong Konger knows where to find this perabot store but it’s new to me.

I was told most these furniture are located in Kwun Tong and so we went to check out. It’s on the 5th floor and it’s about 2k to 3k square feet.

street-ad

This is how they advertise they stuff. Bunting on the street.

At first glance, I thought I was in one of those used furniture shop at TTDI. But they said it’s new and you have to order them.

From sofa, office furniture, bed, cabinet, washing machine and other electronic stuff, all are packed in this small space.

If you can’t find what u wanted, they let u surf their site for more products. You can visit their site at Shinway.com. The site is crude but it’s does the job.

Well, to me it’s creative marketing, maybe to the hong kong residents it’s does not mean much but the way these people sell their products amazes me. It’s remind me that to be successful in biz and given the limited amount of resources, one need to be creative and find a way to reach your customer and sell the products.

Bar City, Again

I am well now. We were at Tsim Sha Tsui ‘Yum Cha’ with my mom/dad-in-law in the afternoon. After the ‘Yum Cha’, we were heading to Yuen Long and as we were about to get on the highway, the radio announced the Typhoon Pabuk was upgraded to signal 8. Then everything canceled. We heads home.

I did not feel it because I am in the Kowloon City area. The only thing I saw was rain. No strong wind. Elmer at Living In HK might describe the situation better than I do.

barcity

We went to Bar City around 11pm because Allan Au [tag]區偉倫[/tag] was having a mini concert there. It was a good night out for us. Listening to oldies, I got to watch my favorite wushu show and watching some 60 years grandma/chick dancing.

I want to forward my thanks to the [tag]Bar City[/tag] owner, Peter, for providing ton of complimentary foods for our table only.

After 3 week in Hong Kong, I finally succumb to illness/food poisoning. I don’t know whether it’s food, the weather or what. I have been throwing up and diarrhea for the past 2 days couple with fever of 101.5F.

Today, I am still recovering. I could not eat solid food. Only bread and congee.

I am beginning to like Kowloon City because of it’s convenience. Its has foods (include halal restaurant and a lot Thai Food), a mall, a mini bangkok town, wet market, public library and a public park.
