Punch Party 4 is here. Another blogger gathering. I must say this is one of the hottest blogger gathering in Hong Kong. The venue – Harbour City. The theme – music, life.
First up, NGO talk about clean air Hong Kong. They called themselves hongkongcan.org. Recently, I hear a lot of their activity via other I.T. events and some online publication.
I believe 80% of this pollution are from across the border. Hong Kong has no heavy industries. It does not emit intense smog like Los Angeles. That is my two cents.
You can check them out at their website.
These two belong to Hip-Hop group.
The food. Sponsored by Microsoft. Same food like PPHK3.
The band from the medical communities.
I like this guy. Very much into his music.
Talking about being a DJ.
This is one of the hottest product in town. The IPAD. Quite a bit of the attendees were showing off this product.
Jonathan. The man behind the Punch Party movement.
Punch Party 3 @ Harbour City. Spectacular background view, Fun speakers, Food and top-notch prizes.
Check out the sponsors. As Punch Party progresses, I can see the sponsors are getting better and better. Some brand name are getting into the action. Air New Zealand sponsored 2 HKG-NZ tickets. It was a ‘WOW’ for me. Hat off to the organizer.
Waiting in line to get in.
The crowd. Huge Venue. At first look, the venue doesn’t look that impressive. But…There is a ‘But’.
The MC for the night.
Now…this is the ‘But’. Once they rolled up the garage door. You can see the stunning background of Star Ferry terminal and the Hong Kong Island. Just awesome.
Took a shot from where we were.
Greenpeace talking about their cause.
Talked about being an air steward for a major airline.
Cupcakes from Skype. Simply beautiful.
Can’t help it. Have to take another pix.
Talk about volunteer works in Mongolia.
Sponsored by Starbucks. If you read my post on PPHK2, the sandwich was Salmon. I made a request for meat and it was answered. Thanks you.
Below are some slide for your enjoyment. Overall, I enjoyed Punch Party 3. Good food and coffee, good speakers and power sponsors. Looking forward for the next Punch Party.
I went to the Punch Party 2. This time the location is at the Microsoft seminar rooms.
The place was packed. The theme was reminiscing about the old days. From apple newton, BBS, Palm and along the wrong about charity.
I was there around 6.45pm. No crowd, yet. The first time at the same time. They would not let me in.
Microsoft pantry area.
Took a pix at the logo. William (Microsoft) let me into their office area to take this shot.
This presentation by William (Microsoft) on the MSN 9.0 latest features.
The BBS talked. I missed this era because backed then I was busy with the hardware part of the industry. I did not know….Hong Kong has such dedicated people running BBS until…now. This is a WOW for me.
The PALM…I started out with the Palm V, Sony series SJ…to my last one Sony TJ-37. Now, on window mobile. Currently, tinkering around WinMobile 6.5 beta9.
Oxfam – somehow..somewhere there is a blogger who blog about Oxfam. Interesting.
Overall, interesting talked. From a foreigner point of view, it was not as humorous as the last one. But it good enough.
One last thing, Starbuck sponsored the food and drinks but can I make a small request. The sandwich came with Salmon & Cheese. I can’t take seafood. Can I request meat next time?
I went to Punch Party that was held at Lenovo office. After a little over a year in Hong Kong, I finally attends blogger get-together. Very interesting and a little culture shock for me. The whole session was conducted in cantonese and you know-la, I can only converse in conversational cantonese. Anything beyond that, I am lost.
It’s very interesting because unlike Barcamp, each speaker get 30 minutes to talk whereas in Punch Party the speakers on get 7 minutes to 25 minutes. Because the speakers are blogger, they talk about their blog, their work, daily and others…Another thing, bloggers….have so much humors, so many moments of laughter…
Sidekick – I think she and other fellow bloggers organize this event.
The host – Sidekick and Jonathan.
Unbelievable….damn packed. They won’t let me in because I did not register but Ed from Dookaz.com got me in. Dookaz sponsored the T-shirts.
The blogger who teaches English on his blog. The way he deliver the talk has a lot humor in it.
The primary school teacher. A passionate teacher who believe in educating her students. Not babysitting them. Talk about her daily life as a teacher…
The fire-fighter. I didn’t know most fire-fighter play volley ball.
Leon Ho from LifeHack. What can I say? He is the man. He is the only guy that really make money by blogging.
Sheta – The music engineer. Interesting talk about the music industry.
Jeff – The Doctor – real life doctor and blogger. His talk inspired me. Make me not giving up on blogging. Enjoyed life and giving back to society.
Overall, I have enjoyed that night. They say…they gonna do another round two months down the road. Will definitely attend. Will be more loose. I was too tense because don’t know what to expect. Probably, not confidence on my cantonese…or maybe others. I don’t know….
