The niece of a prominent Court of Final Appeal judge has been arrested after slapping a police officer in the early hours yesterday.

Amina Mariam Bokhary, 34, the niece of Justice Kemal Bokhary, was arrested for assaulting the police and refusing to take a breathalyzer test.

Police asked her to take a breathalyzer test which she also refused and tried to walk off. She then slapped a police officer who was blocking her way, was handcuffed and taken to Wan Chai Police Station.

“Legco siege charges loom for protesters

A group of activists who laid siege to the Legislative Council during a protest against the high-speed rail link may be prosecuted, the police chief said.

Commissioner Tang King-shing said police will “seek advice from the Department of Justice about the legal responsibilities of certain people” during the clash on January 16.

He was responding to a question by lawmaker Philip Wong Yu-hong, who was hit by a plastic bottle while being escorted away from the Legco building by police officers.

What relevancy does these two story has???

Well, It will be a good benchmark to see if the rich get away with a slap on the wrist for slapping a cop or the poor (the protesters on the Anti Rally Rail) will get jail time.

Will this case further re-affirm myself that law is on the side of the rich. The poor. You have to fend for yourself.

In the good ole U.S.A., slapping or any type of bodily harm to an officer of the law is a felony.

Hong Kong law…I don’t know. I guess…you get 10 hours of community service for slapping a cop(only applies for the rich felon). For the anti rail rally who protested for a certain belief will get 10 year in the jail (most probably).

If she indeed did not get jail time for slapping an officer of the law, please don’t tell me Hong Kong is based on the rules of law. You martha farkers get away from me. Hong Kong is no different from any other third world country.

The niece of a prominent Court of Final Appeal judge appeared in court yesterday accused of assaulting two police officers on the same day.

Amina Mariam Bokhary, the 33-year-old niece of Justice Kemal Bokhary, was arrested on January 27 for reckless driving, assaulting the police and refusing to take a breath test.

She appeared at Eastern Magistrates’ Court yesterday but entered no plea.

The first alleged assault happened at the scene of a traffic accident in Happy Valley after an altercation with constable Tang Man-wai.

Later the same day she is accused of assaulting a female officer at Wan Chai police station. Bokhary was also charged with careless driving resulting in an accident on Stubbs Road near the junction of Shiu Fai Terrace in Happy Valley.

The car she was driving was in a collision with a coach traveling in the opposite direction.

She is also accused of refusing take a breath test at the time of the accident.

The hearing was adjourned to May 20 to allow time for the defendant to retrieve documents from the prosecution. Her bail has been extended .

Acting principal magistrate Bina Chainrai said that because she knows the defendant personally, the case would have to be heard by another magistrate.

She reminded Bokhary to seek legal advice for the hearing on May 20.

Bokhary, who suffers from attention deficit disorder, bipolar depression and alcohol abuse, was sentenced in 2008 to 240 hours of community service for assaulting a policewoman with a handbag and kicking a taxi driver, and ordered to pay the taxi driver HK$1,000 as compensation.

In 2001, she was fined HK$9,000 for assaulting a police officer who had intervened when she broke a light bulb outside a bar in Central.

Check out the bold on the judge. There are friends. How you gonna send a friend to jail? She practically knows all the top judges in Hong Kong. So…do you think she gonna get jail time???

Anti-Rail Construction Rally – 反高鐵

Yesterday, I went to the Anti-Rail Construction Rally at Legco Building. I was there just to be counted as a number and take some pictures around the area.

The contentious area of discussions – location, price and displacement of villagers. Am I for or against the rail construction? I am for the rail construction BUT the government must re-locate the location and NO displacement of villagers.

I was told (correct me if I am wrong). The villagers are offered $500 Hkd per square foot. The average price per square for any decent apartment is $3,500 Hkd up. All I am asking for is fair price regardless whether that land is zoned as agriculture.

At 10.45pm last night, the legislators delay the funding approval, again. They will re-convened next Friday for further discussion. My thought, it’s quite futile. What these politicians are doing is just a side show. The approval will come. It’s quite unfortunate.

All I hear from those opposing politicians asking the ‘WHY’ questions. When you ask someone ‘WHY’. The other side can come up with thousand of rebuttal. I did not hear the key word ‘REVISE’. No one is proposing or asking those involved to revise their proposal otherwise it’s a no GO. This is one reason I think the Rail Construction will get it funding approval (I could be wrong).

These are the guys/gals that I admired. The walked like ten steps or so and came down bowing (I don’t know the terms for it in English) from Sheung Shui (I think) to Central. After arriving, they continued to walked encircling the Legislative building. For a cause they think it’s right. You have to be there. It was quite emotional.

My opinion, to be effective and get your voice heard, the opposition party and the protesters need to turn up the noise decibels a thousand percent. At the present situation, well… I can only….sigh….

On android leapfrogging iPhone by 2012

I just read this article which according to the people at Gartner, Android OS will leapfrog Iphone by 2012.

Watch out, iPhone—Android’s nipping at your heels.
Researchers at Gartner (via AppleInsider) are predicting that the global market share for Google’s Android mobile OS could overtake the iPhone’s in a little over two years, with Android poised to leapfrog Apple into the No. 2 spot.

That would leave the iPhone in the No. 3 position—right where it is now, behind BlackBerry and Nokia’s Symbian OS, according to Gartner. The industry researchers believe that by 2012, Research in Motion (the company behind the BlackBerry) will have lost 7 percent of its market share, causing it to slip into fifth place (behind even Windows Mobile). Android, meanwhile, will get a 12.9-percent boost to become the No. 2 smartphone platform in the world, with Symbian still safe in the No. 1 spot (with a dominating, although dwindling, 39 percent of the global market).

Those are just analyst predictions, of course, and two years is an eternity in the wireless world; after all, two years ago today, we were still getting used to the first iPhone.

I don’t know man…the people at Gartner must have know something that we don’t know or maybe there was pressure to churn out some reports to the public to bitch about.

I am not a Iphone or Android user. I am Window Mobile user. To say Android leapfrog Window Mobile would be a more sensible thing to say.

For me, I don’t see Android will leapfrog anyone for now.

Here is Why?

First, two kind of Iphone users. The apple geek (fiercely loyal to apple product) and the trend setter (it’s an IN thing to have an Iphone). These two group of users will carry Iphone a long way.

Second, China has not rolled the Iphone series, yet. Who knows, when it launch, everyone might clamor for Iphone. Places like malaysia, it’s a one month waiting list to subscribe Iphone and these people want to wait for it. I don’t see this happen to Android.

Third, I don’t see any ‘WOW’ factor about Android (maybe I said this to early). Further, I am not getting the developers vibes on wanting to develop apps for Android. Nowadays, everyone want to put their apps on Iphone store.

Would I be even wondering toward the Android world, probably not, I need my Metatrader(forex trading software) to work on Window Mobile. It’s more important than any other stuff.

At this moment, I equates Android to Qtopia. I know….

Anyway…Dream on Android…

On H1N1 touching down on Hong Kong

H1N1 is already here. The HK Government took a very heavy handed approach on this outbreak.

Quarantine the entire hotel (Metropark Hotel at Wan Chai) for seven days. Is this really necessary?

I was out on Saturday and saw this at the alley of Cheung Sha Wan. The sanitizing begins.

At this moment, I think the Government is a little overboard on this issue.

I could be wrong…that is why I am thinking aloud….

On my thought on CITIC Pacific debacle

Wow…Citic Pacific (0267) loss more than $15 billion HKD on forex forward contract. Well, most company have gone through this road. A lot of U.S. company with overseas business have done this kind of hedging and many have been burned. Some exception, Dell Computer had made a lot of money on this eon years ago and put it as revenue. Hehehehe….

Even country like Malaysia took at $9 billion Rm hit. Pier-1 import is also another example. Took a huge hit, declared chapter 11 and now…limping along.

But the funny thing. Citic Pacific did not even see the sign. The sign is all over their forward contract. They have a term for this…they called is ‘CURRENCY ACCUMULATORS’ = ‘CURRENCY I KILL YOU LATER’. Doesn’t it sound like I KILL YOU LATER?

Whoever coined this term knows exactly what is the end game of the customer. Next time, bring a malaysian along, they read better…ehhehe…’ACCUMULATORS’ my ass…maybe I read it differently…

People…when u in need of buying a forex forward contract and someone in the Bank offered this term…you better run…hehehehe..

On my prediction on the HSI index

This is something I don’t want to do in this blog but lately this is the hottest topic in town. Plus, We..among friends has been exchanging our opinion on where the market is heading.

So…in my blog, I am posting my opinion. Please do keep in mind…I could be WRONG…heheheh

The last price on the chart was 8th Oct…

The price on 9th Oct close at 15,943.24, Up 511.511.

1) Price Action – based on pure price action, with the rebound on 9th Oct, I am looking at the price testing 16,284: the recent low and become the current resistance. If the price does not penetrate at this number, the price will coming back down to re-test the low 15,431.

2) Technically – from tech point of view, the price really does not look. The only way I long the market if its penetrate 20,000. Otherwise, I am just going to sit around and doing nothing. I am too chicken to long the market.

3) Volume – I put the volume on this chart because one of my friend is absolutely a believer in volume spread analysis. Looking at the high volume of the transaction on 8th Oct, I can safely say, the end of the sell-off is not even near…

This is my thought…I am thinking aloud…and expect profit…

On The China Government Should Buy AIG, Lehman & ETC

Well…this is a talk among us friend…

Looking at the current U.S. situation, the [tag]Chinese[/tag] [tag]Government[/tag] should flex its financial muscle and starts buying up part of [tag]AIG[/tag], [tag]Lehman[/tag], [tag]Ford[/tag] and etc. It’s a FIRE SALE!!!

Since the Chinese Government is buying the T-Bills, why not instead of T-Bills, let start buy some real assets rather than a piece of paper that the U.S. Government might default.

Assets is better than a piece of paper…anytime of the day.

So…Uncle Hu, what say you? Let do some shopping…We need to let Don Corleone knows that the Chinese is coming into his turf. Don Corleone need to share his pie…

On The Death Of Laissez-Faire

The day of open and free economy died on the month of September 2008.

In the future, the US government should not and will not ask, dictate or demand developing countries to open their industries in the name of open and free economy.

The US government should not complain, cry foul or whine about developing countries saving ailing companies because Don Corleone(US government) is doing same thing over at his turf.

On The Fannie Mae & Freddic Mac Bailout

During the 1997 asian financial crisis, the language from the WEST (Don Corleone(U.S.) and the rest of Europe) were…let the inefficient and non-transparent company to close down. No practice of cronyism…

Now, forward to 2008, the WEST applauded the bailout of Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, which to my point of view was not efficiently run. We should let it go down…just like during the 1997.

Why the double standard???

How can we trust what Don Corleone(the U.S.) said in the future? Didn’t Don Corleone said his word is as good as gold? Heehehhee….
