On e-cosway in Hong Kong

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

I took this picture of e-cosway stockist somewhere near Lok Fu mtr station.

P1000573

Can ecosway, a malaysian mlm company find its place in Hong Kong? I have been passing this place for the last 6 months. It does not look that good…don’t seem to find anyone inside buying stuff….

I am thinking aloud…..

Update:

Aug 9,08

I was passing ecosway stockist again today.

P1000874-r1
Check it out….The store finally shutdown. My projection was right. They could not survive. Retailing in Hong Kong is very harsh. The rental is you majority cost. The moment you don’t have foot traffic. You are almost dead. Plus, the golden rule…location, location and location.

Reason (my opinions)

Ecosway brought in too many malaysian products.

Paste

The curry paste, rendang paste and other malaysian paste just does not suite hong kongers. Hong Kong people can’t take south east asian curry. They liked are japanese type of curry.

Toiletries

Other ecosway like detergent, shampoo and others toiletries products just could not cut it. Pricing are not competitive. I can buy a brand name for less than ecosway products. Why do I want to buy ecosway. As a Hong Konger, who is ecosway???

Now, I understand what HSBC said: ‘The world’s local bank’. To compete, you need to localize your product.

Again…I am thinking aloud.

Update: May 12, 2010

On attending the MAHK AGM

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

My first time attending the [tag]Malaysian[/tag] [tag]Association[/tag] [tag]AGM[/tag] in [tag]Hong Kong[/tag] and I got my Shock & AWE. So many malaysian turning up for the events. I thought this kind of stuff never interest anyone.

msa hk agm

Check out the crowd. I was wondering why would anyone want to get elected for a chairman or deputy or whatever the post that were available because all these position is an NON-PAID position. Is there something that I don’t know, that these people knows?

msa hk agm
The Supporters

Wow…Spend own money to campaign. It’s a NON-PAID position…lah….

the argument

The Rule Of The Game – Based on the constitution of the association, at anytime you did not renew your membership and you let it lapse for more than a year, u need to re-apply as a new member. Then the application will be review by the exco members during their regular monthly held meeting.

The Argument- the challenger brought in a lot of her supporters BUT most of the supporters did not renew their membership for the last year or two.

So that night, the challenger supporters submitted their new application and insist the exco committee to approve them right there and then. They were raising their voices, yelling and do other shit…

It’s like renouncing your citizenship but on the day of election, you re-apply your citizenship and ask for the right to vote. What logic is this?

There was one asshole keep shouting he is a malaysian and holding his passport way up high to show his shit. This is like going back to Malaysia during election time and bring my passport at the polling station and start shouting…”I am Malaysian…How come my fucking name is not on the voting roll”. Motherfucking dickhead….

My Opinion

When u want to fight a war, BE PREPARED. Next, I own a Introducing Forex Brokerage. I told potential clients to know and abide by the house rules. Don’t pull shit stunts because the house will penalize you.

Same shit at this AGM, the current governing body holds all the cards and you must know how to work around and within these boundaries. A good example is the current malaysia election. The Barisan team holds all the cards but the opposition gain more seats than ever. WHY? KNOWS HOW TO WORK AROUND AND WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES.

the cry babies

The Cry Babies

These are the cry babies. Because they were not issued ballot ticket, they came into the room disrupting the process. So many personal insults, so many character assassination. They came for blood.

These people is like…’last year when we fight…it was a fair fight..but this year u raise the great wall and we are at a disadvantage.’ Grow up motherfuckers !!!

Throwing tantrum when you are in a disadvantage position….fucking malaysian.

You know what…these cry babies are senior management people and bosses. If you can cry to the top…shit…I need to start doing this kind of shit…No wonder I am still at the bottom of the food chain.

Then there was one chick trying to table a motion to have the exco immediately review, process and approved their application. I wonder in Malaysia or anywhere else, if an ordinary citizen like me goes to the parliament and table a motion to the speaker to dissolve parliament and have another new election.

If this can be done, Jeff Ooi and Tony Pua don’t need to work their ass off to get into parliament. You want to change the rules of the game or have a voice. Become one of the administrator…Get your fucking ass elected…bitch.

Recently in HK, there was an intensive drive to ask citizen to register as a voter for the next election and the cut-off date was May 16. When is the election? Couples months down the road. Every country has a deadline for voter registration. No country would allow anyone to register on the last hour of the election.

A lesson learned for me…when u comes into the battlefield unprepared, the consequences can be devastating.

To rely on rustics and not prepare is the greatest of crimes; to be prepared beforehand for any contingency is the greatest of Virtues. Sun Tzu

the incumbent
The incumbent

I cast my vote to her. Why? As a shareholder, I only want to see one thing. Positive cash flow on the events MSA organized and positive cash flow on the balance sheet.

The rest…I don’t give a shit…

the challenger
The challenger

Well, let me borrowed a quote from Sun Tzu.

” A general who calculates the most before the war will always win. A general who calculates carelessly before the war will always lost.”

She gave a 10 minutes typical malaysian political speech…I hv the longest, biggest and thickest dick bullshit. I hv a small dick. I don’t want to hear last minute campaign speeches. This kind of bullshit should be done 3 months ago.

My Summation

What pisses me off was the pure act of hooliganism that was bring forth by the Challenger supporters. These motherfuckers are like some posse rode into town with their gun blazing and proclaimed they are the new sheriff of the town.

There were a lot noises about the current chairwoman. If she was to be elected, a lot of people will be unhappy, the association will be disunited and all kind of negative bullshit. All I can say…whatever we do…we do it by our own choosing. We draw our Line- In-The-Sand (some people called it their principles and some called is choices) based on the current perceived information available. Its all about choices.

You made the choice of not going to the Friday get-together, you made a choice of not re-newing your membership. You made a choice to have certain friends. NO ONE force you. It’s your choice. So…where is the unhappiness, the disunity or negative shit. It’s after all our own perception. We perceives in our mind.

My brother-in-law always reminded me that there is no LINE-IN-SANDS. That line-in-the-sands is by our own choosing. The perceived LINE can be push further back when push comes to shove. For example, in war, with so many deaths, there are survivors…why? because they made a choice to live. They find a way to survive…

On the recent malaysia election

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

My heartiest congratulation to Jeff Ooi and Tony Pua Tony Pua for being elected. I never thought they could win because of the BN well oiled election machinery. But…what do I know about elections.

After grabbing these 5 states, what is NEXT for the DAP, PKR and PAS? Can they get along to share the prize? Being focus on getting the prize is one thing, sharing would be another thing?

The big Question – Will Badawi resign? Will the Umno supreme council let him hang around for 4 more years?

I am thinking aloud.

On what with the bathroom thingy

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

I’ll just read IHOP ceo Julia Stewart get most of her ideas in the bathroom and so does Alan Greenspan. The famous ‘irrational exuberance’ came while he was in the bathroom.

Should I start spend 2 or 3 hours in there? In hong kong, where a 3 bedroom apartment has only 1 bath, would my family members get all piss off if I am in there for 3 hours to get my inspiration?

I am just thinking aloud….

e-games.com.my

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

Wow….I just read on theedgedaily.com that [tag]e-games.com.my[/tag] (egamesglobal.com.my) is in trouble. I just can’t believe it. With Rm 60 million funding and promises to develop their own [tag]MMORPG[/tag], they can’t get it up.

I watched with envy when they got that funding because my ex-company who wanted to get the Korean online game into malaysia shutdown due to insufficient capital. My korean bosses try very hard to secure funding to get the games started but things did not work out.

At that time, the licensing fee for a korean online game is about Usd 250,000 (and up) and it’s take another USD 100,000 for the hardware. Not the top of the line games or servers hardware but it’s enough to get the ball rolling.

These guys pick-up about 15,000,000 usd (60 mil x 3.8 exchange rate) and they can’t overwhelm the industry. So sad.

Another question that comes to my mind, how did they get such massive funding from [tag]malaysia debt ventures[/tag] (MDV)?. Why would [tag]MDV[/tag] funds a start-up with no revenue or profit?

Anyway, I am thinking aloud on this one. Those in the VC funding scenes, you know-lah….you only funds the well-connected one…mah.

Worldip.tv – Internet TV

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Just came upon reading a new local company [tag]Worldip.tv[/tag] (read like world-ip) is offering internet Tv platform that consist of local channel (TV 3, NTV 7, TV8 and TV 9) and some Indonesian channel.

I sign-up on their service and try it. It a good effort from these guys. Being malaysian company and able to come up with this software (i hope the back-end is not an oem from some other company), the streaming is quite impressive. The picture and sound quality are very good.

worldiptv

Resize – Only full size or original. You can’t re-size to your liking

Channel – Everytime you need to change a channel, you need to go back to the original page.

Timeout – It will stop after 30 minutes and it’s said ‘due to inactivity, we stop the stop streaming’ (the word might be exact but it’s sound something like that). So, it’s like you have a TV and if you don’t use your remote control in the span of the 30 minutes, the TV will shut down.

tvu

Compare to [tag]TVUnetworks[/tag]. TVUnetworks is by far the most stable of all the internet TV. I have tried tried [tag]RongTv[/tag], [tag]Tvants[/tag] and [tag]SatelliteTV PC elite[/tag]. All these internet TV software I mention on the parentheses have not been able to continue streaming for more than 1 minute without going into buffering.

It’s almost function like Tv. Anytime you want to change channel, just click on the left side and you can re-size to any size. Further, they provide broadcast software for anyone to stream their video.

As of now, my vote goes to TVUnetworks. All internet Tv wannabe need to work hard.

Next, It’s would be interesting to see how Worldip.tv will roll out their subscription based plan. They claim to have 15,000 subscribers. The moment you say, collect money. That number will drop to 1%-3%. So, before they choose this road, they need to find other stream of revenue. Otherwise, it will be……something to be forgotten by next year.
